A suspected moped thief has appeared in court following work by officers from Canterbury and Ashford’s Victim Based Crime Teams.
Kent Police was contacted on Sunday 9 April 2023 after a man was seen attempting to push away a moped outside of a takeaway in St Peter’s Place, Canterbury. Officers attended and a man was arrested nearby.
A man from Ashford, has since been charged with theft of a motor vehicle in relation to the incident.
Further charges
The 21-year-old has also been charged with offences in relation to an incident on Friday 3 February, when a motorbike failed to stop for officers in Ashford.
He was charged with dangerous driving, driving whilst disqualified and driving without insurance in relation to that incident.
The accused appeared before Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 11 April and was bailed to appear at Canterbury Crown Court on a date to be arranged.
