A man has appeared in court charged with carrying out a serious assault in Folkestone.
Kent Police was called at 8.45pm on Friday 5 May 2023 following a report a man had been assaulted on steps leading off Bradstone Avenue.
Officers along with South East Coast Ambulance Service arrived and the man was taken to a local hospital with a leg injury consistent with a stab wound.
A suspect was quickly identified and arrested in the town. During the arrest, a police officer’s arm was injured.
Following enquiries by East Kent CID, a man has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
The 30-year-old, from Folkestone, is also charged with assaulting an emergency worker.
He appeared before Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Monday 8 May and was remanded in custody to appear before Canterbury Crown Court on Monday 5 June.
The victim has since been discharged from hospital.
