The Dover RNLI Lifeboat Station had a busy Sunday as they responded to two emergency calls within four hours.

The first call came at 11am when the crew were out on a planned exercise.

They were asked to assist a 10m fishing vessel that had broken down about 3 nautical miles southwest of Samphire Hoe. The crew reached the vessel and towed it and its two occupants back to Dover marina safely by 1pm.

The second call, at 2.55pm alerted the crew to a small inflatable boat with four people on board that had drifted out to sea off the Hythe coast. The wind was blowing at 20-25 knots and the sea was moderate.

Quick action ‘saved lives’

The crew arrived on scene within 35 minutes and rescued the four people from the inflatable boat. They were brought back to the Dover lifeboat station and checked by paramedics.

This was a great result for all involved as the four rescued are recorded as ‘lives saved’.
