Officers from Medway’s Community Policing Team were on a proactive patrol on Monday 5 June 2023 when they saw a vehicle which they believed was being used to transport drugs.

They stopped the vehicle in Goudhurst Road at 1.00pm and the driver, a man in his 40s, and passenger, a man in his 20s, were both searched along with the vehicle.

During the search, officers, assisted by Kent Police dog Dougal, recovered numerous wraps of suspected cocaine. A quantity of money was also seized.

Both men, who are from Gillingham, were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cocaine.

The driver was additionally arrested for driving without a licence or insurance. Officers also additionally arrested the passenger on suspicion of permitting another person to drive without insurance.

The two men have since been bailed until 31 August pending further enquiries.
