A man has been charged with multiple offences following an investigation into stolen cars and false identity documents in Folkestone.

A BMW car, which had been reported stolen in London in April, failed to stop for a Kent Police patrol in the Shorncliffe Road area on Friday 5 May 2023, and was later found abandoned.

Subsequent enquiries by officers from Folkestone’s Neighbourhood Task Force, working with Folkestone CID, led to the arrest of a suspect and the seizure of another car, a Porsche, on Friday 9 June. The Porsche had also previously been reported stolen from the London area.

The suspect has since been charged with three counts of possessing a false identity document and two counts of handling stolen goods, relating to the cars.

The 31-year-old is also charged with driving without a licence, driving without insurance, driving without due care and attention, and possession of cannabis.

The man from Folkestone, was remanded in custody at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 10 June and will next appear at Canterbury Crown Court on Monday 10 July.
