By Ray Duff – A new exhibition celebrating the seaside experiences of people of colour in the UK has opened in Folkestone Town Hall.
The exhibition, called ‘Seaside Memories’, showcases a collection of photographs of African and Caribbean families enjoying the beaches and funfairs around the country since the arrival of the SS Empire Windrush 75-years-ago.

The exhibition was launched on Friday evening by Town Deputy Mayor Cllr Abena Akuffo-Kelly and Anita McKenzie, who organised the event with the Healing Image Projects CIC.

It aims to highlight the diversity and richness of the seaside culture and invite visitors to share their own memories of coastal trips.

The exhibition is open from Tuesday to Saturday, 10am – 4pm, at Folkestone Town Hall & Museum.
