Proactive work by Ashford’s Neighbourhood Beat Team led to the arrest of a teenager and the seizure of 52 wraps of suspected class A drugs.

A local beat officer searched a group of young people in Victoria Park just before 6pm on Tuesday 20 June 2023. This followed reports of drug dealing in the area.

The drugs along with a small knife were seized by patrols and a 14-year-old boy from London was arrested on suspicion of possession of controlled drugs with intent to supply.

He remains in police custody whilst enquiries continue.

Beat Officer, PC Josh Wheatley, said: ‘The misuse of drugs can cause misery to people’s lives and as well as disrupting drug supply, we work with partner agencies to identify young vulnerable people and divert them away from criminality. We will continue to work hard on education and intervention as well as removing drugs from Kent’s streets. Anyone who suspects drug dealing is taking place should report incidents to us, either online or by approaching one of your local officers.’
