A man has been arrested following a disturbance on a Herne Bay beach.

Kent Police were called to the beach near St George’s Terrace, following a report two people had been assaulted.

Officers, including firearms officers, arrived at around 12.45am on Monday 26 June 2023.

Two men, who sustained injuries not believed to be serious, were treated at the scene by the South East Coast Ambulance Service.

A 47-year-old man from Herne Bay was arrested on suspicion of assault, possessing a firearm with intent and a racially-aggravated public order offence.  A BB gun and a kitchen knife were recovered by police.

The man remains in custody while enquiries continue.
