Fire crews rushed to a major fire which broke out in a hay barn on Plurenden Lane in High Halden, Ashford shortly before 4pm on Sunday 2 July 2023.

The smoke from the fire prompted a warning for nearby residents to close their windows and doors.

Three fire engines and a bulk water carrier were sent to the scene to fight the fire.

The fire is still burning and firefighters are keeping an eye on it overnight. They will stay in the area for the next day or so to make sure there are no flare-ups and to put out any hot spots.

The advice to shut windows and doors is still in place.

Two fire engines remain at the scene of a fire involving a large amount of hay inside a barn in Plurenden Lane in High Halden, Ashford. 

Crews are maintaining a watching brief to ensure there are no further hot spots.
