A Kent village was rocked by three car fires in one night, allegedly caused by a local man who has been charged with arson.
The incidents happened in Queens Road, Ash, near Sandwich, between Tuesday 18 July and Wednesday 19 July 2023. Kent Fire and Rescue Service responded to the blazes and put them out without any injuries.
Kent Police arrested a man on suspicion of arson on Wednesday morning, after finding evidence that the fires were deliberately started.
The accused, Jonathan Smith, 44, and from Ash, appeared in Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 20 July and was denied bail.
He will face trial at Canterbury Crown Court on Monday 21 August.
