A tragic accident occurred in Ashford early this morning, when a car carrying four young men crashed into a roundabout.

The incident happened at around 12.10am on Sunday 30 July 2023, on Bad Munstereifel Road, near the junction with Jacques Faucheux Avenue.

The car, a black VW Golf, was heading west towards Flanders Field roundabout, when it collided with the roundabout. The impact caused the car to leave the carriageway.

One of the passengers, a 20-year-old man from Ashford, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, also 20, and two other passengers, both 19, were taken to hospital with serious injuries. They are all from the Ashford area and their families have been notified.

Police from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are investigating the cause of the crash and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
