The wait is over. Monday 31 July, marked the grand opening of Thanet Parkway, the first new railway station in the district since 1926. The station, located between Ramsgate and Minster, will connect East Kent with London and the rest of the southeast region faster and easier than ever before.

Thanet Parkway is the result of a joint effort by government agencies and local councils, who have invested in the future of the district. The station will also benefit from the upgraded level crossings at Cliffsend and Sevenscore, which will improve safety and efficiency.

Councillor Rick Everitt, Leader of Thanet District Council, said: “Thanet Parkway will enhance our existing stations and provide new opportunities for residents who do not currently have easy access to them. People who live nearer to the new station will now have an alternative to driving into Ramsgate, and having to park in busy residential roads. It will improve our rail options without increasing previous journey times.

“The new station represents a substantial investment in the district’s future by regional and national funding bodies and it is important that we take advantage of such opportunities when they arise.”

The new station will not only serve the commuters, but also the businesses and tourists in Thanet. It will make Thanet a more attractive location for business, opening the way for new jobs and further investment. Thanet’s leisure and tourism industries are also expected to benefit from the increased accessibility to highspeed rail services.

If you want to experience the new station for yourself, you can now purchase tickets for services to and from Thanet Parkway. There will be free parking for station customers for a limited time.

Don’t miss this chance to be part of history!
