KCC announced it acknowledges the concerns about the temporary closure of Folkestone Library and continues to explore all longer-term options to see a full town centre library provision restored.

In the meantime, further temporary provision for some library services has been arranged within the Shepway Youth Hub building, which is close by and also on Grace Hill.

This will provide the following services:
 Access to much of the Folkestone Local History Collection
 Public computers
 Free book reservation and collection service

KCC recognises the value to researchers of the local history collection which is not currently possible to access elsewhere. While it is not practical to relocate the full Local History Collection, as much as possible will be available at the Youth Hub building.

To achieve this temporary measure, youth services currently delivered from Shepway Youth Hub will be moving into a shared space at the Folkestone Early Years Centre in Dover Road, where services are already provided for children and families.

It is expected that this further temporary library provision will be open by early autumn this year. A specific opening date and further information on the service will be announced as soon as possible.
