An ongoing campaign to protect west Kent businesses from shoplifting has continued with the arrest and charge of three suspects.

On Thursday 17 August 2023, two men and a woman entered Boots the Chemist in Edenbridge High Street where it is reported property valued at more than £400 was stolen.

Later on the same day, products worth more than £900 were allegedly stolen from a Boots store located in Tonbridge High Street.

Local police officers were alerted to the incidents and patrols stopped a vehicle in Eridge Road, Crowborough, where three people were detained. Officers also recovered a quantity of pharmaceutical products in black refuse bags and some cannabis.

Two men from East Ham, Greater London and a woman of no fixed address, were later charged by investigators from the Tonbridge Victim Based Crime Team, with two counts of theft. One of the men was also charged with driving without insurance, driving without a licence and possession of cannabis.

All three appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 19 August and were remanded to a hearing at Maidstone Crown Court on 5 September.
