Kent Police are looking for witnesses who may have seen or heard anything related to a sexual assault that occurred in Strood on Saturday 19 August 2023.

The assault took place in a public car park behind Strood Sports Centre, sometime between 10.10pm and 11.50pm.

According to the police, a teenage girl was approached by a stranger while she was standing in Witham Way. He allegedly led her to the parking area near Humber Crescent, where he sexually assaulted her. The suspect is described as a white man in his early 20s, about five feet and seven inches tall, with straight brown hair. He was wearing a white top, navy blue jeans, a pale pink baseball cap and Nike trainers.

Detective Inspector Adam Marshall of Kent Police’s Major Crime Unit, said: ‘We believe the suspect may have been at a party in the area that night. We are urging anyone who was there and has any information that could help our investigation, to get in touch with the appeal line.

‘We are also asking residents with private CCTV and drivers with dashcam, to check their footage for anything relevant. There are blocks of flats near the car park and we think at least one vehicle drove in at the time of the incident.’

Witnesses or anybody with information should call 01634 792209, quoting reference 20-1298. You can also call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 or complete the online form on their website.
