Driver held after woman pedestrian dies and child injured in Ashford collision

Witnesses are being sought following a fatal collision in Charing Heath near Ashford on Saturday 2 September 2023.

At around 9.24pm on there was a collision involving a red Ford Fiesta and two pedestrians in Church Hill.

Kent Police officers rushed to the scene with South East Coast Ambulance Service and a woman in her 20s was taken to hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

A child with minor injuries was also treated in hospital.

A man was later arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and he remains in custody.

Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are carrying out enquiries and want to hear from anyone who might have witnessed the collision.

They are also appealing for anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage taken in the area around the time to come forward.
