Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a lorry carrying recycling waste on fire in Farmhouse Close, Barham, Canterbury just before 9.00am on Friday, 22 September 2023.

Two fire engines arrived and crews wearing breathing apparatus put out the blaze using main jets and hose reel jets.

No injuries were reported.

It’s believed the fire was started by Lithium ion batteries.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service is reminding people to recycle batteries via specialist recycling services, since some batteries can be a fire risk when disposed of incorrectly.
