A suspect is due to appear in court charged with a serious sexual offence in Maidstone.
Officers from Kent Police’s Major Crime Unit have been investigating an incident in Gabriel’s Hill, which happened between 4.15am and 4.30am on Saturday 23 September 2023.
It is alleged a woman walked into an alleyway halfway up the hill and was raped by a man she did not know. At around 1.40am on Saturday 30 September, a suspect was arrested and taken into custody.
On the following day, the man from Maidstone was charged with rape. He was remanded in custody to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Monday 2 October.
Detectives are continuing to appeal for witnesses and are urging anybody with information which may assist the investigation to call Kent Police on 01622 604100, quoting crime reference 46/171507/23.
