Two suspects have been charged in connection with assaulting a shop worker in Swanley amid attempts to steal vitamins and several medicinal items.

At around 11.40am on Monday 9 October 2023, a member of staff at Savers, in the Swanley Centre, challenged a man and woman after they left the store. It is reported they had stolen several products from a medicine aisle.

It is alleged the woman punched and scratched the female employee and that she was also threated by the man. Both suspects then fled empty handed.

On Tuesday 10 October, officers attended the home address of Joe Rossiter-Lee and Gemma Lee, both aged 40, in Swanley. The investigation by the West Kent Victim Based Crime Team led to both suspects being charged with counts of theft and assault.

They were remanded in custody to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on the following day.
