Kent Police was called on Friday 13 October 2023 following a report that a man approached a woman from behind near Jeffery Street, at the corner of Arden Street, between 1am and 2am.

The offender is described as black, of medium build and aged in his late 30s to early 40s. He has black hair and a beard and was wearing a black hooded top and trousers.  

Senior investigating officer, Detective Chief Inspector Kath Way of the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate said: ‘Officers are in the area making further enquiries surrounding this incident.

‘We understand that this type of report can cause alarm to residents, but we want to reassure those living in the area that we are working as efficiently as we can to gather all the details and to identify and apprehend the offender.

‘I would like to ask residents with private CCTV or doorbell footage, or drivers with dashcam footage, and who have not yet spoken to officers, to please get in touch.’
