Kent Police Patrols responding to a robbery at a Chatham shop in which bottles of spirits were allegedly stolen, have detained a suspect.

During the morning of Monday 30 October 2023, Kent Police received a report that a man had stolen bottles of spirits after going behind the counter of a business in Magpie Hall Road.

It is alleged that whilst the items were being taken, threats were made to the staff.

Officers were called to the scene and, following a search of the area, a suspect was arrested.

Charged

A Chatham man was later charged with robbery by investigators from the Kent Crime Squad.

He was also charged with two further counts of robbery at the same shop on Sunday 29 October. During these incidents it is reported a member of staff was threatened by a man who stole laundry products and confectionary.

The suspect, aged 34, was remanded in custody to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 31 October.
