A suspected burglar has appeared in court as part of an investigation by detectives from the Kent Crime Squad.

Officers have been investigating a series of break-ins at homes in Tonbridge, CanterburyAshford and  Sittingbourne in Kent, as well as properties in Berkshire, between 20 September and 6 October 2023.

Cash, expensive watches, perfume and jewellery were stolen during the offences.

Following an arrest on 1 November, a man was charged with 12 counts of burglary and one count of attempted burglary.

The 31-year-old, from Maidstone, appeared before Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on 2 November and was remanded in custody to appear before Canterbury Crown Court on 4 December.

The charges come after a 23-year-old man was charged with four burglary offences as part of the same investigation. Those charges relate to incidents which took place in Canterbury on 6 October.

The man of no fixed address, appeared before Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on 11 October and was remanded in custody until a date in November.
