Kent Police and the Kent Special Constabulary conducted a traffic operation in Folkestone on Wednesday 20 December 2023, in response to local residents’ concerns. The road checks took place at Sandgate Hill, Princes Parade, Cheriton Road and The Leas, as part of a continuous effort to promote and enforce road safety in the district.
Ten drivers were reported for various offences, such as speeding, using a mobile phone and not wearing a seatbelt. One driver was caught doing 60mph on Princes Parade, where the limit is 40mph, and another was going 39mph on The Leas, which has a 20mph limit.
Sergeant Kevin Marsh from Folkestone and Hythe Victim Based Crime Team said:
‘We also advised another 18 drivers and passengers on driving safety issues, such as seat belt use, vehicle condition, speed, number plate use and mobile phone use. Our campaign is about educating and enforcing drivers and riders to be safe and responsible on the road. You should always check your vehicle before you travel and be alert and aware of the road ahead of you.’
