At around 2.30pm on Monday 1 January 2024, a vehicle suspected to be stolen attempted to make off from officers before being stopped on the London-bound A2 Watling Street, near the junction with Wrotham Road.

A number of vehicles were damaged as the car attempted to pass traffic but no serious injuries were reported. The carriageway, near Gravesend, was closed while the incident was responded to.

Officers have since charged a man with handling stolen goods, dangerous driving, failing to stop at the scene of an accident and driving while disqualified.

The 22-year-old, from Thamesmead, is due to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 3 January.

The two other men arrested have been released without charge.
