Investigating officers have charged a man after two people were reportedly stabbed in Gravesend on New Year’s Day.

A 31-year-old man from Orpington, has been arrested in Dartford on Friday 5 January 2024 following a CCTV appeal by Kent Police.

He was arrested in connection to an incident which happened at around 3.15am on Monday 1 January 2024 after it was alleged that a 15-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man were assaulted.

During the incident the victims reported that they had been approached by a man when they were walking in Gravesend Town Centre, near to Harmer Street.

The man is alleged to have made threats towards them before he assaulted them. They sustained injuries consistent with stab wounds.

Both victims were taken to a London hospital and have since been released.

The suspect has been charged with two counts of grievous bodily harm with intent, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and possession of cannabis.

He is due to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 6 January 2024.

A 28-year-old woman from Gravesend was also arrested in connection with the investigation. She has since been released on bail until Sunday 3 April 2024.
