People who are more susceptible to cold-related illnesses

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) and Met Office have warned that people who are more susceptible to cold-related illnesses, such as the elderly, very young, pregnant women, and those with chronic health problems, may need more NHS care in the next week.

The yellow Cold-Health Alert, issued for Kent and Medway, means there is a 60% chance of severe cold weather affecting health, will be effective from Saturday, 6 January at 9am to Friday, 12 January at 12noon. During this period, daytime temperatures are likely to stay below 10°C and nights could drop below 0°C, causing frost and ice on the wet ground.

Residents are advised to keep an eye on their vulnerable relatives, friends and neighbours and make sure they keep safe and follow practical advice.
