A man was brutally assaulted on a train by another passenger who punched and stamped on him, leaving him with a fractured shoulder and facial injuries.

The attack happened at around 11pm on 29 December, as the victim was travelling on the service. He was taken to hospital for treatment and later released.

British Transport Police (BTP) have released an image of a man they want to question in connection with the incident. They believe he may have vital information that could assist their investigation.

Anyone who recognises the man, or has any information about the attack, is urged to contact BTP by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 727 of 29/12/23. Alternatively, they can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
