Alkham Village Green – Under water

The Alkham Valley borehole still shows a very high reading after December, when there was a lake threatening to engulf the Alkham village green, but this had all but disappeared.

Unfortunately it is now making a comeback and the dyke is again flowing very quickly.

With the Nailbourne river flowing high this year, along with a very high water table, residents will no doubt have noticed the dyke in the Village Green is now flowing very high and fast.

Although throwing sticks and branches into the fast flowing water is what people have done for years, it could sadly cause possible blockages in culverts further downstream which may result road flooding.

Residents are being urged to help those villagers that live in the lower part of Short Lane to not hamper the flow of the Nailbourne and prevent this from happening.
