A man has been charged with a series of thefts after reportedly targeting businesses in Ashford and Folkestone.
It’s alleged that the suspect stole items from shops in the centre of Ashford and from small supermarkets on the outskirts of the town between Sunday 29 October 2023 and Sunday 7 January 2024.
Cosmetics, toiletries, chocolate, baby milk and household items were amongst the goods that were reported to have been taken, totalling a value of more than £1,300.
Food items worth almost £160 were also reported to have been stolen from a petrol station in Cheriton, Folkestone on 6 January 2024.
An investigation by officers from Ashford’s Victim Based Crime Team initially led to the arrest of a, 49-year-old man no fixed address, on 10 January who was later charged with eight counts of theft. After an initial hearing at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on 11 January, the suspect due to appear before court on 1 February.
