Officers from Kent Police’s County Line and Gangs Team were in Fort Pitt Street on Wednesday 10 January2024 when they saw what they believed to be a drug deal taking place between two people at around 1pm.

A 17-year-old boy was arrested after he had been searched and officers found him in possession of what was believed to be a quantity of heroin.

A further search of a nearby property led police to find further drugs and a large quantity of money. Two men inside the property were arrested.

A man aged, 19, from Dagenham, Essex, has been charged with possession with intent to supply crack cocaine, being concerned in the supply of heroin and being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine.

A 17-year-old boy from Essex was charged with the same offences and was additionally charged with assaulting an emergency worker.

A man aged from 18 from Romford, Essex, has been charged with being concerned in the supply of heroin and being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine. He has also been charged with refusing to provide a sample for a Class A drug test.

All three suspects appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Friday 12 January.

The men were remanded in custody while the 17-year-old boy was bailed. All three are due to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Friday 9 February.
