Speeding drivers have been reported and uninsured vehicles seized during proactive work by police officers in east Kent.
Dover’s Community Safety Unit (CSU) has been carrying out speed checks across Sandwich, Deal and Dover since the beginning of December in response to local concerns.

Road checks have so far been carried out in a number of residential locations including Archer’s Court Road in Whitfield, Sandwich Road in Woodnesborough, St Richard’s Road in Deal, Lewisham Road in River and Canterbury Road in Lydden.
A total of 48 drivers have been stopped so far with 20 in the last week alone. They have been reported mainly for speeding offences as well as driving without a licence and whilst uninsured. In those instances, five vehicles were seized.
One car was caught travelling at 53 mph in Sandwich Road which has a limit of 30 mph.
Sergeant Ian Belsey from Dover’s CSU said: ‘We are responding to concerns of dangerous driving in residential areas which have been raised by the local community, either during our regular engagement events or through our two-way messaging service, My Community Voice.
‘Officers in the team are proactively targeting those that put other road users at risk and their efforts in our towns and villages will undoubtedly contribute to reducing injuries and educating all motorists on the dangers of speeding.
‘Road safety is part of Kent Police’s Safer Winter campaign, and we will continue carrying out operations like this to keep people safe.’
