Woman shoplifting suspect charged over alleged threats and theft of clothing in Ashford

A suspected shoplifter has been charged after items of clothing, believed to have been stolen, were seized by officers in Ashford.

Police patrols were called to the town centre at around 4.45pm on Tuesday 16 January following multiple reports of disturbances in the High Street. A woman was arrested and clothing, allegedly taken from a High Street shop and worth more than £100, was seized as part of an ongoing investigation.

Lucy Croxon, 24, of no fixed address, was charged with theft and with using threatening and abusive language to cause distress. She was conditionally bailed and is due to appear before Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on 1 February 2024.
