Kent Police was called just before 6.30pm on Tuesday 23 January 2024 to a report of a disturbance behind a filling station on Holborough Road in Snodland where it is reported a man approached a woman and dragged her along the ground before attempting to take her phone.
The woman, who is known to the suspect, sustained minor injuries as a result.
Officers were called to the area and carried out a search, which resulted in a suspect quickly being arrested.
A man from Chatham, was later charged with assault by beating and remanded in custody pending a court hearing at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 25 January. The 21-year-old pleaded not guilty and is due to appear before the same court on Friday 7 June to stand trial.
