Witnesses are being sought after a police officer was hit by a car that allegedly failed to stop at the scene in Ashford.

The incident took place at 3.16pm on Friday 26 January 2024 in Coulter Roadnear the junction with Hedgers Way.

The officer, who was on foot at the time carrying out speed checks, sustained serious but not life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital where he remains.

The car involved in the collision is described as a silver Vauxhall Vectra and a car matching its description was found in Hornash Lane, Shadoxhurst later that day. It is believed to have travelled along Tally Ho Road shortly after the collision.

Detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate have arrested a 19-year-old local man in connection with the incident. He has since been bailed pending further enquiries.
