A Strood property connected to incidents of violence, suspected drug misuse and anti-social behaviour has been issued with a closure order.
On Friday 16 February 2024, Kent Police applied for the order at Medway Magistrates’ Court following complaints from residents about the premises near Bligh Way.

It will last for three months and any unauthorised person entering the property during this time risks a fine and a prison sentence.
Local officers ensured the housing association-owned property was empty and have now secured it. A sign has been placed on the door with a warning that it is an offence to enter.
Inspector Mick Hayes, of the Medway Community Safety Unit, said:
‘Residents have endured disturbances and anti-social behaviour from those frequenting this flat for some time.
‘They raised concerns with us, and officers attended to warn the occupant. However, as their behaviour failed to improve, we have now taken steps to remove the problem.’
The closure order used legislation under the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, and MHS Homes will be taking possession of the premises.
Inspector Hayes continued:
‘Our officers along with Medway Council are determined to tackle the blight of disorderly households that make people’s lives a misery. Any others who choose to pursue chaotic and often criminal lifestyles that have a detrimental effect on their community can expect a similar response from Kent Police.’
