Two suspected drug dealers have been charged by officers investigating reports of a violent incident in Gillingham.
On Saturday 24 February 2024, Kent Police patrols were called to a disturbance in Trinity Road involving several people, some were alleged to be in possession of bladed weapons.
Officers from the Medway Neighbourhood Policing Team completed enquiries into the incident, including the examination of CCTV in the area, and on Tuesday 27 February attended a property in Richmond Road.
Once inside the premises, they recovered class A drug deals, three swords, mobile phones and more than £600 in cash. A man and two teenage boys were also arrested and taken into custody.
An 18-year-old man from Greater London and a 17-year-old boy, also from Greater London, were later charged by investigators from Kent Police’s County Lines and Gangs Team with being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine, being concerned in the supply of heroin and possession of crack cocaine with intent to supply.
They were also charged with possession of three samurai swords in a private place. The man was further charged with possessing a sword in a public place and threatening unlawful violence towards another person, both on 24 February.
The man and the 17-year-old were both remanded in custody to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 28 February. A 15-year-old boy from Minster-on-Sea was bailed to return to the police station on 27 May, pending further investigation.
