At around 9.30am on Friday 16 February 2024, a collision occurred on the coastbound carriageway of the A299, Thanet Way near to the Margate Road Interchange, involving a grey Nissan Qashqai, a beige Land Rover Defender and a Fiat Ducato Ambulance, which was travelling with lights and sirens activated.

Officers attended and emergency crews treated people for injuries. A male patient in the ambulance in his 80s, sustained injuries and was taken to a local hospital, where he later died.

Kent Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) is carrying out enquiries and officers are appealing to anyone who saw what happened, or who has relevant dashcam footage, to come forward.
