Charges have been secured against a man who allegedly attempted to assault an officer with a spear in Tunbridge Wells.

Kent Police was called just after 4.30pm on Saturday 2 March 2024 to a report of a disturbance at a residential property near Upper Grosvenor Road. Patrols arrived the scene where it is reported a suspect lunged towards an officer with a spear.

A man aged 33, from Tonbridge, was arrested and later charged with possession of an offensive weapon and attempting to cause grievous bodily harm. He was further charged with false imprisonment, two counts of assault by beating, making threats to kill, and criminal damage.

He appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Monday 4 March and has since been bailed to appear before Maidstone Crown Court on 2 April.
