A suspect has been charged in connection with armed robberies at a petrol station and Domino Pizza in Swanley.
Kent Police was called just after 9.40pm on Saturday 23 March 2024, to Domino’s Pizza in the High Street where it was alleged a man entered the premises with what appeared to be a firearm and demanded staff hand over money. The man is reported to have then stolen cash from a till.
A further 999 call was made at around 6.30am on Sunday 24 March, to a second robbery at an Asda petrol station in London Road in which it is reported a man entered the shop and, after threatening staff with a knife, stole cash before leaving the scene on foot.
A 40-year-old man, of no fixed address was arrested later that day.
An investigation by the West Kent Crime Squad led to him being charged with two counts of robbery, theft, possession of an imitation firearm and possession of a knife in a public place.
The man appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on 26 March, where he also faced two charges of possessing drugs, namely heroin and amphetamine. He was remanded in custody and his next hearing will be at Maidstone Crown Court on 22 April.
A 48-year-old woman from Sevenoaks was also arrested in connection with the offences. She is currently bailed, pending further enquiries, until 21 June.
