Following a sewer pipe burst in Bishopstone on Saturday 23 March, which led to sewage flowing into Bishopstone Glen, Southern Water has now completed repairs.

The spill from the leaking pipe on Gainsborough Drive and Fairfax Drive was stopped at 6pm but the company had to use four tankers to manage wastewater flows together with an over pump until the repair to the burst pipe could be completed.

Canterbury City Council put up signs advising people to stay out of the water following Southern Water’s clean up operation.

The warning signs will be removed once the repairs are completed but they, and the Environment Agency, will continue to monitor the situation ensuring there are no further issues.
