As the Easter holiday season kicks off, ferries at Dover have already seen delays due to rough weather conditions and reports indicate long queues forming at Dover as vehicles face up to a two-hours waiting for processing.
The stormy weather that caused disruptions yesterday evening is expected to ease, but many flood warnings and alerts remain in effect across England. Drivers have been cautioned that their journeys may take twice as long on certain routes.
At Dover, officials reported lengthy queues of vehicles waiting to board ferries. The current border processing time for tourists stands at approximately two hours. Ferry company DFDS has attributed the delays to earlier strong winds in the Channel.
Drivers at the port currently face a two-hour wait, which could extend to two-and-a-half hours during peak times, even with adequate resources in place at the border. Additionally, French authorities at Dover have heightened border checks following an increase in the country’s terror threat level after the Moscow concert hall attack.
