Pet rabbit survives but cat dies in St Dunstans, Canterbury house fire

Kent Fire and Rescue Service report it was called to reports of a living room fire at a house in St Dunstans, Canterbury on Sunday evening.

Two fire engines arrived at the property in New Street, where crews wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the flames using a hose reel jet, before using a high-pressured fan to clear the home of smoke.

Firefighters rescued a rabbit from the house and used a specialist pet mask to provide the pet with oxygen. However a cat could not be saved and it sadly died. No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is unknown but is believed to have been accidental.
