Police in Gravesend have seized a samurai sword during an early morning search warrant in the town.

Detectives investigating the supply of class A drugs in the area identified that a specific phone line was being used to offer heroin and crack cocaine for sale.

Their enquiries led them to apply for a search warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act and, on Monday 15 April 2024, it was executed at a property in the town. A samurai sword was seized at the premises and a man was arrested.

A man from Gravesend was later charged by investigators from Kent Police’s County Lines and Gangs Team with two counts of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs, between 1 January and 14 February 2024. He was also charged with possession of a weapon in a private place that is specified under the Criminal Justice Act 1988.

The 19-year-old was remanded in custody to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 16 April.
