In a swift response to an emergency call, the Kent Fire and Rescue Service tackled a fierce blaze that erupted from a vehicle and spread to a residential garage in Hawkinge, Folkestone.
The fire , which broke out at 16:42 on Wednesday, 17 April 2024, drew a robust reaction from the fire service, with four engines arriving at Gray Close to tackle the fire.
Equipped with personal protective equipment and breathing apparatus, crews managed to douse the flames using high-pressure hose reel jets. The operation was completed at 20:53 the same day.
As a safety measure during the incident, several homes in the vicinity were evacuated. The residents, who had been temporarily displaced, were allowed to return once the area was declared secure.
There were no casualties reported in the incident and an investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
