Local officers from Medway’s Community Safety Unit have been meeting children and their families as part of a community event.

On Friday 12 April 2024 constables and officers from Medway’s Neighbourhood Task Force, Child Centred Policing Team and the Beat Team took part in an event organised by Moat housing association at The Vineries in Gillingham, where officers spoke to residents about policing concerns and local issues affecting them.

They also spoke to young people and even had the opportunity to play a game of football with some of them.

Commenting on the get together, PC Isuru Ranaweera said:

‘Attending community events is an important part of being a local officer as it gives us the opportunity to meet residents and chat about any issues they may have.

‘We also spoke to lots of young people and I hope that after meeting us, they will be confident in approaching their local officer for a chat or reporting any concerns they might have.’
