A man is to appear in court charged with shoplifting and assault offences in Thanet and Canterbury districts.
Following an investigation by Thanet Victim Based Crime Team, a 38-year-old man, of no fixed address, was charged on 23 April 2024 with nine shoplifting offences.
The charges relate to offences reported to have happened between 12 March and 10 April at businesses in Herne Bay, Ramsgate, Whitstable and Canterbury. Items including meat and fish were reported stolen. The man was also charged with assaulting a member of staff at a business in Ramsgate on 3 April, one count of assaulting an emergency worker on 10 April, and one count of causing actual bodily harm to an officer on 22 April.
He was remanded in custody to appear at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on 24 April.
