In the early hours of Wednesday 17 April 2024, reported attempts were made to break into two houses in Clinton Avenue and around 20 minutes later, entry was allegedly gained to a property in Crispin Road where a handbag was stolen.

Later a car was reported stolen from an address in Rede Court Road after the keys had been taken from inside the premises.

An investigation by officers from North Kent’s Crime Squad led to the arrest of a 16-year-old boy on Friday 19 April.

The teenager from Essex has since been charged with two counts of burglary, two counts of attempted burglary, aggravated vehicle taking, dangerous driving and driving without insurance. He was remanded in youth detention and is due to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 25 April 2024.
