A suspected shoplifter has been remanded to court after allegedly targeting Medway shops. On Wednesday 17 April 2024, the theft of multiple packets of bacon and steak was reported at the Co-op in Corporation Street, Rochester.

Staff members at the Co-op in Twydall Green, Gillingham notified Kent Police that meat products had been stolen on Monday 29 April. The theft of groceries and cleaning items was reported on the following day at the Co-op in Borstal. The total value of the property in the three incidents was more than a hundred pounds £110.

Neighbourhood officers investigated the incidents including the examination of CCTV footage. On Wednesday 1 May, a 39-year-old man was arrested in Chatham High Street and was later charged by investigators from the Medway Victim Based Crime Team with three thefts and three breaches of a criminal behaviour order and was remanded in custody to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Friday 3 May 2024, say Police.
