Kent Police Investigators have charged two men following the theft of a car during a robbery in Swanscombe. On Friday 12 April 2024, the victim was standing next to his Mercedes in Stanley Road when he was allegedly approached by a man with a knife.

The victim tried to flee but was reportedly assaulted by a second man and his car keys along with his vehicle were stolen. Later the same day, officers seized a van in Dartford believed to have been used by the suspects along with a mobile phone that had been left in the footwell. They also recovered the victim’s car in Greenhithe.

An investigation was started by the Kent Crime Squad which included the forensic examination of both vehicles and their contents. On Thursday 9 May, investigators arrested two men. A man aged 34 from Deptford, and a man aged 40 from Finchley, London, were later charged with robbery. The pair were both remanded to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Friday 10 May.
