On Tuesday 21 May, Kent Police was called to a report of shoplifting at a business in Bouverie Road West. Officers from Folkestone’s Community Safety Unit attended and a man was arrested. A search was carried out and alcohol, white powder (later found to be amphetamine) and a locking knife were recovered.

The following day, officers from Folkestone’s Victim Based Crime Team charged a man aged 43, with three counts of theft, possession of a knife in a public place and possession of a class B drug. He is also alleged to have assaulted a member of staff at a shop in Cheriton Road on 24 February 2024.

The suspect, of no fixed address, was remanded to appear before Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 23 May.
